Oh, the Places you will Go!

When I was a classroom teacher, I read Oh the Places You'll Go by Dr. Suess each year on the first day of school. It was a great motivator as we began the new year with a clean slate. I thought about it this morning when I was driving Colin to school. I told him about the book and promised I would read it to him before he went to bed. Just before we arrived at the school parking lot I turned to Colin and quoted my 2 favorite parts from the book.

"Congratulations!

Today is your day!

You're off to great places!

You're on your way!"

" You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go."

Check out the little guy in the back who also "thinks" he is going to school today too!
